Learn about working at height safely, and how to build it into your health and safety system with Pilla and AI.
Join Liam Jones, founder of Pilla and a qualified food safety consultant, for a session on working at height.
Falls from height remain the single biggest cause of major injury in the workplace. Under the Work at Height Amendment Regulations 2007, organisations must follow a strict hierarchy of control to prevent falls and protect workers.
The hierarchy requires you to first avoid working at height wherever possible. Where unavoidable, use equipment to prevent falls. Where fall risk cannot be eliminated, minimise the distance and consequences of a fall. Step ladders should be industrial standard only, meeting BS EN131, and must be the correct size for the task, used for short duration work of less than 30 minutes, with three-point contact maintained at all times.
All work at height must be properly planned by competent persons. Risk assessments must consider the task, the equipment needed, weather conditions, and the competence of the people doing the work. All access equipment must be inspected before each use and at regular intervals, and defective equipment must be taken out of service immediately.
See how working at height fits into your wider health and safety management system in Pilla. We walk through how to build this into your system so that your team has clear processes, accountability, and a documented trail that proves compliance.
Learn how AI can speed up this process and connect Pilla to your other tools, giving you a much more joined up system across your business.
