Learn about personal protective equipment arrangements, and how to build them into your health and safety system with Pilla and AI.
Join Liam Jones, founder of Pilla and a qualified food safety consultant, for a session on personal protective equipment.
PPE is often the last line of defence between employees and workplace hazards. Under the PPE at Work Regulations 1992, employers must identify, provide, maintain, and monitor PPE when risks cannot be adequately controlled by other means.
PPE requirements flow directly from risk assessments. When hazards cannot be fully controlled through elimination, substitution, or engineering controls, the assessment determines what personal protective equipment provides adequate protection. Before using any PPE, employees must receive training covering why the equipment is needed, how to put it on correctly, how to check it is working, how to store it, and what to do if there is a problem.
Anyone observed not wearing required PPE while carrying out a task that requires it will be stopped and informed of both legal requirements and company policy. Arrangements must also cover maintaining, servicing, cleaning, and replacing PPE, with proper storage facilities to keep equipment clean, dry, and ready for use.
See how personal protective equipment fits into your wider health and safety management system in Pilla. We walk through how to build this into your system so that your team has clear processes, accountability, and a documented trail that proves compliance.
Learn how AI can speed up this process and connect Pilla to your other tools, giving you a much more joined up system across your business.
