Brickwork must be sound with no gaps, pipework must be proofed, drains covered, doors fitted with bristle strips and kick plates, ventilation openings screened, and eaves proofed against rodent and bird ingress.
Staff must never interfere with, tamper with, or move bait stations from their stated locations. The pest control contractor has positioned them based on rodent behaviour patterns. If you find a dead rodent, call the contractor for safe removal.
Electronic fly killers must be cleaned regularly, catch trays emptied, and ultraviolet tubes changed annually before fly season. Even though tubes appear to work to human eyes, their efficacy diminishes after about 12 months.
Written recommendations from the pest control contractor that are not acted on will harm any due diligence defence if there is ever an incident. If the contractor identifies a proofing issue, it must be addressed.
See how pest management fits into your wider food safety management system in Pilla. We walk through how to build this into your system so that your team has clear processes, accountability, and a documented trail that proves compliance.
Learn how AI can speed up this process and connect Pilla to your other tools, giving you a much more joined up system across your business.
