I wrote this because I keep getting asked how Limble and UpKeep compare. I ran restaurants for years. I know the job: you want the floor to do the work without you chasing every check.

Limble is still Limble Solutions. You log in at auth.limblecmms.com. The public site is limble.com. You run work orders and preventive tasks on a phone or tablet, keep an asset register, track spare parts and purchase orders, and Practical AI drafts PM templates from manuals. Premium+ adds a read-only MCP server.

UpKeep Technologies sells a CMMS and asset operations platform. Technicians run work orders and checklists on a phone or tablet. Managers plan preventive maintenance, keep an asset register, track parts and purchase orders, and report on downtime. Nova chats, speaks and drafts work orders, and in Agent mode it can change CMMS records. You can add Safety, Learn, Edge sensors and Fleet on the same platform.

I built Pilla so you can turn a process you already know into a workflow on a canvas. Your team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla can fetch, decide and act while the work is happening. You keep the judgement calls.

If you want to try it on a process you already run, open the canvas.

I would keep Limble when I want a quoted CMMS with assets, parts, PMs and a read-only MCP server. I would keep UpKeep when I want a priced CMMS with Nova, and I can add Safety, Fleet and sensors. I would pick Pilla when I want AI to act inside the work.

How did we compare them?

I ask the same twelve questions on every comparison. For Limble I went back to their help, product pages and API docs. For UpKeep I went back to their help, product pages and the live pricing page. I read those public docs on 16 September 2026. Where they stay quiet, I stay quiet.

I am Liam Jones. I founded Pilla after more than ten years running hospitality operations, food safety and frontline teams. On 16 September 2026 I sat with Limble's basic and advanced task instruction types, instruction sets, PM templates, comments on tasks, AI-powered PM Builder, anomaly detection, the MCP user setup guide, API keys and the live pricing page, then with UpKeep's checklist templates, conditional logic, required tasks, Nova modes, Nova Workflows, work-order Activity, External Chat, the public API and the live pricing page. I have not lived in a paid Limble or UpKeep account for this write-up. I am telling you what their docs say.

What should you take away?

  • I would keep Limble if I needed a CMMS with assets, parts, PMs and a read-only MCP server
  • I would keep UpKeep if I needed a CMMS with Nova, and I could add Safety, Fleet and sensors
  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted the floor to follow the process without me chasing every check
  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted the work checked as it comes in, and followed up when something needs me

Limble sells a CMMS for work orders, assets, parts and preventive maintenance, and they quote you. UpKeep sells a CMMS for the same job, with public Essential and Premium prices and Nova on the platform. They overlap on work orders, proof and parts. They split on MCP versus Nova, and on 21 CFR and GPS check-in versus Safety, Fleet and sensors. I built Pilla for a different job: AI acting inside the run.

What is Limble, and when should you keep it?

Limble holds work orders, assets, parts and preventive maintenance in one place. You prove the work with photos, signatures and timestamps. Premium+ adds spare parts, purchase orders, signatures, the REST API and MCP. Enterprise adds Maps, GPS check-in, resource-planning AI and 21 CFR records. Practical AI drafts PM templates from manuals, reads nameplates and flags odd meter entries. Hardware and IoT sensors are partner integrations.

I would keep Limble if I needed a CMMS with assets, parts, PMs and a read-only MCP server. That stack is a fair reason to stay.

Price: No public software price. Calculator and sales quote.

Trial: Demo and calculator. I could not find a trial length in days on the live pricing page.

Why people stay on Limble

  • Spare parts and purchase orders on Premium+
  • Read-only MCP server on Premium+

Why people look

  • No public software price

  • I could not find an AI assistant that changes work orders from chat
  • Spare parts, purchase orders, API and MCP sit on Premium+

What is UpKeep, and when should you keep it?

UpKeep holds work orders, assets, parts and preventive maintenance in one place. You prove the job with photos, signatures and timestamps. Nova chats, speaks and drafts work orders, and in Agent mode it can change CMMS records. You can add Safety, Learn, Edge sensors and Fleet on the same platform. Labour timers and iOS GPS arrival prompts are why some teams stay.

I would keep UpKeep if I needed a CMMS with Nova, and I could add Safety, Fleet and sensors. That stack is a fair reason to stay.

Price: Essential $24/user/month. Premium $55/user/month. Professional and Enterprise quote.

Trial: Try for free. No credit card. I could not find a length in days on the live trial form.

Why people stay on UpKeep

  • Public Essential and Premium prices
  • Nova chat, voice and Agent mode on the CMMS
  • Safety, Learn, Edge and Fleet on the same platform
  • External Chat with requesters on Professional

Why people look

  • You pay per seat, plus Nova credits
  • I could not find an MCP server

  • I could not find a GPS check-in on a checklist step
  • Professional, Enterprise, Safety, Learn, Edge and Fleet are quoted or extra

When is Pilla the third option?

If the job is a quoted CMMS with assets, parts, PMs and MCP, keep Limble. If the job is a priced CMMS with Nova, Safety, Fleet and sensors, keep UpKeep. I built Pilla for a different job. You draw the process on a canvas. The team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla checks the work as it comes in and follows up when something needs you. I did not build a CMMS, shift scheduling, payroll, HR or sensors. If you need those, keep them on Limble, UpKeep or another vendor. You can open Pilla the same day. Starter is £49 a month with 500 processed workflows. Pro is £99 with 1,000, and adds AI automations inside Pilla. Every new account gets a 14-day trial of every Pro feature, with no card. People are unlimited.

Which should you pick?

I would keep Limble if I needed a CMMS with assets, parts, PMs and a read-only MCP server. I would keep UpKeep if I needed a CMMS with Nova, and I could add Safety, Fleet and sensors. If I wanted the work drawn on a canvas and AI acting inside the run, with DMs and unlimited users, I would use Pilla, and I would keep assets, parts and PMs somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions

Is Limble the same as UpKeep?

No. They overlap on work orders, assets, parts and preventive maintenance. Limble quotes you through a calculator and documents a read-only MCP server on Premium+. UpKeep publishes Essential at $24 per user per month and Premium at $55, with Nova on the platform.

How much do Limble and UpKeep cost?

Limble quotes you. The live pricing page on 16 September 2026 shows Standard, Premium+ and Enterprise and sends you to a calculator. I could not find a public software price. Work requesters are unlimited and unpaid. UpKeep Essential is $24 per user per month. Premium is $55. Professional and Enterprise are quoted. Requesters and view-only users are free. Nova credits are 250, 500, 750 or 1,000 a month by tier. I could not find whether $24 and $55 are cheaper on annual billing. Pilla is Starter at £49 a month with 500 processed workflows, and Pro at £99 with 1,000. People are unlimited.

Does Limble have an MCP server?

Yes. It is hosted at mcp.limblecmms.com, documented for Cursor, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot Studio, and gated to Premium+ and Enterprise. Limble says it is read-only. I could not find an UpKeep MCP server on their site, help or developer docs.

How does Limble AI compare with UpKeep Nova?

Limble's Practical AI drafts PM templates from manuals, reads nameplates, flags unexpected meter values and suggests Enterprise crew schedules. UpKeep Nova chats, speaks, drafts work orders and checklists, and in Agent mode can change CMMS records without confirming each step. Deletions still need approval. Their product FAQ says nothing happens automatically without your approval. I could not find an AI step that fetches, decides and acts as a continuing step inside a worker-run canvas on either product.

Can staff chat in Limble or UpKeep?

Limble comments sit on the task. Unpaid requesters get two-way email. Slack can receive work-order notifications. UpKeep comments and @mentions live on the work order. Professional and Enterprise add External Chat with requesters, and vendors get Activity/Chat on the Provider Portal. I could not find DMs or group chats on either product.

Where does Pilla fit if I am comparing Limble and UpKeep?

I would pick Pilla if I wanted the floor to follow a process, with the work checked as it comes in. I would not switch expecting Pilla to take over the asset register, spare parts, purchase orders or sensors. The deep tables live on Pilla vs Limble and Pilla vs UpKeep.

Where did these facts come from?

Limble and UpKeep claims on this page come from their own public docs. Pilla claims come from the current product.
