I wrote this because I keep getting asked how Zipline and GoSpotCheck compare. I ran restaurants for years. I know the job: you want the floor to do the work without you chasing every check.

HQ publishers send targeted messages and tasks onto the Day Sheet. You open one app for comms, a daily checklist, the Resource Library, audits, learning and Zippy. You track readership and photo proof, then follow up from overdue reports and assessments. Zippy answers from the brand library, and as of 2026 it can call customer MCP servers for live inventory or schedule data.

FORM acquired GoSpotCheck in 2020. You still log into the GoSpotCheck app. Their marketing still lives on gospotcheck.com as a FORM company. FORM OpX is a separate product. You build Missions, collect photo and signature proof, and you can add image recognition, PhotoWorks, Insights and a Communications hub if you buy those add-ons.

I built Pilla so you can turn a process you already know into a workflow on a canvas. Your team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla can fetch, decide and act while the work is happening. You keep the judgement calls.

If you want to try it on a process you already run, open the canvas.

I would keep Zipline when I want HQ-to-store comms and execution. I would keep GoSpotCheck when I want field missions bundled with shelf photo AI. I would pick Pilla when I want AI to act inside the work.

How did we compare them?

I ask the same twelve questions on every comparison. For Zipline I went back to their public product pages, Zippy MCP posts and pricing. For GoSpotCheck I went back to their help and the public pricing card. I read those public docs on 16 September 2026. Where they stay quiet, I stay quiet.

I am Liam Jones. I founded Pilla after more than ten years running hospitality operations, food safety and frontline teams. On 16 September 2026 I sat with Zipline's public pages: the Day Sheet, Resource Library, assessments, Messenger, Zippy MCP posts, pricing and the App Store listing, then with GoSpotCheck's task types, the Mission Builder, picture and signature tasks, conditional tasks, Advanced Logic, InfoURLs, Jobs, mobile navigation and the public pricing card. Zipline's public help is login-gated. I have not lived in a paid Zipline or GoSpotCheck account for this write-up. I am telling you what their docs say.

What should you take away?

  • I would keep Zipline if I needed HQ-to-store comms and execution from one vendor
  • I would keep GoSpotCheck if I needed field missions plus shelf photo AI, PhotoWorks and Looker from one vendor
  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted the floor to follow the process without me chasing every check
  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted the work checked as it comes in, and followed up when something needs me

Best forRetail brands that want HQ-to-store comms and executionCPG, retail and beverage teams that want shelf photo AI plus field missions

Zipline sells HQ-to-store comms, tasks and retail execution. GoSpotCheck sells field missions with image recognition for retail execution. They overlap on store photos, checklists and follow-up. They split on Day Sheet comms versus shelf photo AI. I built Pilla for a different job: AI acting inside the run.

What is Zipline, and when should you keep it?

Zipline holds HQ messages, Day Sheet tasks, a Resource Library and audits in one place. You prove the work with photos and readership. You assign tasks from assessments as you go. Zippy answers from the brand library, and as of 2026 it can call customer MCP servers. You can plug in clock-in, learning, service desk and BI.

I would keep Zipline if I needed HQ-to-store comms and execution from one vendor. That suite is a fair reason to stay.

Price: No public software price. Sales quote.

Trial: Demo and quote. No advertised self-serve trial.

Why people stay on Zipline

  • HQ messages and Day Sheet tasks in one app
  • Messenger DMs and Groups
  • Resource Library and Zippy
  • Photo Task Approvals and readership

Why people look

  • No public software price
  • I could not find an AI step inside a Day Sheet task
  • I could not find video, audio or signatures as capture fields on a public product page
  • Public help is login-gated

What is GoSpotCheck, and when should you keep it?

GoSpotCheck holds store-visit, merchandising, promo and audit Missions in one place. You prove the work with live photos and geo-stamps. You survey shelves with image recognition, score the visit, and watch PhotoWorks and Looker Insights. You escalate misses with alerts and follow-up Jobs. Bluetooth thermometers sit on temperature tasks. FORM acquired GoSpotCheck in 2020. You still log into the GoSpotCheck app.

I would keep GoSpotCheck if I needed field missions plus shelf photo AI, PhotoWorks and Looker from one vendor. That stack is a fair reason to stay.

Price: Essentials from $40 per user per month. 20-user minimum. Pro and Enterprise are quotes.

Trial: Talk to sales and book a demo. FORM has a Start Trial page with no advertised length.

Why people stay on GoSpotCheck

  • Public Essentials price from $40 per user
  • Picture, signature, temperature, scale and date tasks
  • Image recognition, PhotoWorks and Looker if you buy those add-ons
  • Salesforce sync and an open API

Why people look

  • 20-user minimum
  • I could not find an AI step that fetches, decides or acts inside the Mission
  • I could not find a chat tab in the live mobile navigation help
  • Image recognition, PhotoWorks, Insights and Communications cost extra
  • I could not find video, audio or file upload as task types

When is Pilla the third option?

If the job is HQ-to-store comms and execution, keep Zipline. If the job is field missions plus shelf photo AI, keep GoSpotCheck. I built Pilla for a different job. You draw the process on a canvas. The team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla checks the work as it comes in and follows up when something needs you. I did not build shift scheduling, payroll, HR, HQ retail comms, clock-in, shelf computer vision or Bluetooth thermometers. If you need those, keep them on Zipline, GoSpotCheck or another vendor. You can open Pilla the same day. Starter is £49 a month with 500 processed workflows. Pro is £99 with 1,000, and adds AI automations inside Pilla. Every new account gets a 14-day trial of every Pro feature, with no card. People are unlimited.

Which should you pick?

I would keep Zipline if I needed HQ-to-store comms and execution from one vendor. I would keep GoSpotCheck if I needed field missions plus shelf photo AI, PhotoWorks and Looker from one vendor. If I wanted the work drawn on a canvas and AI acting inside the run, with DMs and MCP, I would use Pilla, and I would keep HQ comms, clock-in and shelf photo AI somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zipline the same as GoSpotCheck?

No. They overlap on store photos, checklists and follow-up. Zipline is built around HQ-to-store comms, a Day Sheet, readership and photo proof, and they quote you. GoSpotCheck is built around field Missions plus shelf photo AI, PhotoWorks and Looker, and Essentials starts at $40 per user with a 20-user minimum.

Is GoSpotCheck still GoSpotCheck after FORM?

Yes. FORM acquired GoSpotCheck in 2020. In September 2026 you still log into the GoSpotCheck app and the admin web app at admin.gospotcheck.com. Marketing still lives on gospotcheck.com as a FORM company. FORM OpX is a separate product.

How much do Zipline and GoSpotCheck cost?

Zipline quotes you. I could not find a public software price. GoSpotCheck publishes Essentials at $40 per user per month with a 20-user minimum. Pro and Enterprise are quotes. Pilla is Starter at £49 a month with 500 processed workflows, and Pro at £99 with 1,000. People are unlimited.

Does Zipline or GoSpotCheck put AI inside the work?

I could not find an AI step inside a Day Sheet task, or an AI step that fetches, decides or acts inside a GoSpotCheck Mission. Zipline checking is a photo, an approval, readership and overdue tracking. Zippy answers from the library and, in 2026, from customer MCP systems. GoSpotCheck checking is a photo, a score or image recognition on a Picture task. Short-answer AI summarises answers after they land.

Where does Pilla fit if I am comparing Zipline and GoSpotCheck?

I would pick Pilla if I wanted the floor to follow a process, with the work checked as it comes in. I would not switch expecting Pilla to take over HQ retail comms, clock-in, shelf computer vision, PhotoWorks or Looker. The deep tables live on Pilla vs Zipline and Pilla vs GoSpotCheck.
