I wrote this because I keep getting asked whether Pilla replaces GoSpotCheck. I ran restaurants for years. I know the job: you want the floor to do the work without you chasing every check.
FORM acquired GoSpotCheck in 2020. You still log into the GoSpotCheck app. Their marketing still lives on gospotcheck.com as a FORM company. FORM OpX is a separate product. You build Missions, collect photo and signature proof, and you can add image recognition, PhotoWorks, Insights and a Communications hub if you buy those add-ons.
I built Pilla so you can turn a process you already know into a workflow on a canvas. Your team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla can fetch, decide and act while the work is happening. You keep the judgement calls.

I would pick Pilla when I want AI to act inside the work. I would pick GoSpotCheck when I want field missions bundled with shelf photo AI.
How did we compare them?
I ask the same twelve questions on every comparison. For Pilla I describe what the product does today. For GoSpotCheck I went back to their help and public product pages on 16 September 2026. Where they stay quiet, I stay quiet.
I am Liam Jones. I founded Pilla after more than ten years running hospitality operations, food safety and frontline teams. How long does setup take, and how hard is it?
You can open Pilla the same day. Every new account gets a 14-day trial of Pro, with no card. I usually see a first opening or closing workflow take an afternoon. GoSpotCheck starts with a demo and a quote. Missions can go live quickly. Image recognition, PhotoWorks and Insights take a real rollout.
If you move, you rebuild the Missions on the canvas. Photos and history stay in GoSpotCheck unless you export them by hand. Run both for a while. Keep image recognition, PhotoWorks, Looker and Bluetooth thermometers on GoSpotCheck or another vendor. I did not build Pilla to do shelf computer vision, shift scheduling, payroll or HR.
Does the answer change by budget or size?
If you only need digital lists and you want to try something today, start with Pilla. If you run CPG or retail field work and you need shelf photo AI, PhotoWorks and Looker from one vendor, stay with GoSpotCheck. If money is tight, I publish prices. GoSpotCheck starts at $40 per user with a 20-user minimum. If you want AI in the run and an MCP server, I would pick Pilla even in a small team.

What is GoSpotCheck designed to do?
GoSpotCheck holds store-visit, merchandising, promo and audit Missions in one place. You prove the work with live photos and geo-stamps. You survey shelves with image recognition, score the visit, and watch PhotoWorks and Looker Insights. You escalate misses with alerts and follow-up Jobs. Bluetooth thermometers sit on temperature tasks. I would stay on GoSpotCheck for that retail execution stack.
What is Pilla designed to do?
I built Pilla so you can turn the processes you already know into workflows on a canvas. Your team follows them on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla checks completed work and handles the follow-up you configured. You keep judgement, coaching and the awkward calls. I left shift scheduling, payroll and HR out on purpose.

How do they check the work?
On Pilla I put AI fetching, decisions and actions in the run. On GoSpotCheck a required photo, a score or image recognition on a Picture task does the checking, then alerts and follow-up Jobs. Short-answer AI summarises answers after they land. I could not find an AI step that fetches, decides or acts inside the Mission the worker is running.
How do you design the work?
On Pilla you draw a visual canvas with branching and reuse the workflow. On GoSpotCheck you build a Mission in a three-panel drag-and-drop builder, nest conditional tasks, and on Pro you can add Advanced Logic text rules. Help calls the centre panel a mission builder canvas. I could not find a visual node canvas of workflow steps.
How do you provide guidance?
On Pilla you sit written, photo and video guidance beside each step. On GoSpotCheck you put a title and description on the task, show a display component, or attach an InfoURL. Marketing lets you share PDF, Excel, JPG, video or links as reference material. I could not find a dedicated photo-guidance or video-guidance step.
How does the team talk?
On Pilla you get DMs and group chats, including on a workflow. GoSpotCheck's core app sends alerts and a notifications mailbox. Pricing names a Communications add-on for direct messaging, polls, bulletins and channels. I could not find a chat tab in the live mobile navigation help.
How do they connect other software?
Pilla publishes an MCP server, a REST API and integrations. GoSpotCheck documents an open API, Salesforce sync, SSO, SFTP and Bluetooth thermometer pairing. I could not find a GoSpotCheck MCP server.
What are you paying for?
On Pilla you pay for processed workflows, with unlimited people, and you get a 14-day trial of every Pro feature with no card. GoSpotCheck publishes Essentials from $40 per user per month with a 20-user minimum. Pro, Enterprise and Image Recognition are quotes.
Which should you pick?
If I ran a CPG, retail or beverage field team that needed store-visit Missions plus computer vision on shelves, coolers, menus and back bars, with PhotoWorks and Looker on top, I would keep GoSpotCheck. That retail execution stack, including Bluetooth temperature capture, is a fair reason to stay. If I wanted the work drawn on a canvas and AI acting inside the run, with DMs and MCP, I would use Pilla, and I would keep shelf photo AI somewhere else.

Is GoSpotCheck still GoSpotCheck after FORM?
Yes. FORM acquired GoSpotCheck in 2020. In September 2026 you still log into the GoSpotCheck app and the admin web app at admin.gospotcheck.com. Marketing still lives on gospotcheck.com as a FORM company. FORM OpX is a separate product.
Does GoSpotCheck have AI inside missions?
I could not find an AI step that fetches, decides or acts inside the Mission the worker is running. Image recognition can read products and prices on a Picture task. Pic&Plan scores a set photo against a planogram. Advanced Logic and Workflows are rules. Short-answer AI summarises answers after they are submitted.
Can staff chat in GoSpotCheck the way they would in Pilla?
Pricing lists a Communications add-on with direct messaging, polls, bulletins and channels. A 2021 Rodio post claimed in-app messaging. The live mobile navigation help lists Places, Activity, MyDashboard, Anywhere Missions and Settings. Core documented comms on this pass are alerts and notifications.
What evidence can a GoSpotCheck Mission capture?
Help Task Types include Picture, Signature, Scale, Count, Price, Temperature, Date, Yes/No, Multiple Choice, Multiple Select, Searchable List, Short Answer and Quick Scan. Responses are geo-stamped by location, time and user. Video, audio and file upload are not listed as task types. Video appears as reference material. Signatures are not compatible with MyGSC.
How much does GoSpotCheck cost compared to Pilla?

No. I did not build Pilla as shelf computer vision, PhotoWorks or Looker. If you need SKU-level display AI, keep that on GoSpotCheck or another product.
How long does it take to switch from GoSpotCheck to Pilla?
You rebuild the Missions on the canvas. A first workflow usually takes an afternoon. Running both side by side can take days or a couple of weeks, depending on how many Missions you have. Photos and history stay in GoSpotCheck unless you move them by hand.
How did you compare Pilla and GoSpotCheck?
