I am Liam Jones. I founded Pilla after more than ten years running hospitality operations, food safety and frontline teams.

I wrote this because I keep getting asked how YOOBIC and Zipline compare. I ran restaurants for years. I know the job: you want the floor to do the work without you chasing every check.

YOOBIC sells an AI-powered retail store operations platform. Store teams log into YOOBIC ONE on a phone, tablet or the web app. They run missions, chat and take mobile courses. HQ builds campaign forms, collects photo proof, scores visits and watches dashboards. AI is an assistant for answers, a Store Manager Copilot for sales priorities and action plans, and a VM Copilot that reviews display photos.

Zipline sells an AI-powered frontline operations platform for retail brands. HQ publishers send targeted messages and tasks onto the Day Sheet. You open one app for comms, a daily checklist, the Resource Library, audits, learning and Zippy. You track readership and photo proof, then follow up from overdue reports and assessments. Zippy answers from the brand library, and it can call customer MCP servers for live inventory or schedule data.

I built Pilla so you can turn a process you already know into a workflow on a canvas. Your team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla can fetch, decide and act while the work is happening. You keep the judgement calls.

If you want to try it on a process you already run, open the canvas.

Quick Summary

I would pick YOOBIC when I want the store tasks, the messages, the training, and a score on the display photos. I would pick Zipline when I want head office to put today's messages and tasks on the list the store opens. I would pick Pilla when I want AI to act inside the work.

  • I would pick YOOBIC if I needed the store tasks, the messages, the training, and a score on the display photos from one vendor
  • I would pick Zipline if I needed head office messages, a Day Sheet of today's tasks, and photo proof from one vendor
  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted a process I already know drawn on a canvas, with branching
  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted AI to fetch, decide and act inside the run

How did we compare them?

I ask the same twelve questions on every comparison. I used YOOBIC's product pages, help and public API, and Zipline's public product pages, blogs and App Store listing. I used their public docs, and I have not used a paid account. Where they stay quiet, I stay quiet.

What is YOOBIC, and when should you pick it?

YOOBIC holds opening, visual merchandising, promo and compliance work in one place. You prove it with photos, scores and geotagged capture. You coach from visits with action plans. You push a newsfeed plus 1:1 and group chat. You train people on courses in the same app. Copilots brief managers and flag bad displays.

I would pick YOOBIC if I needed the store tasks, the messages, the training, and a score on the display photos from one vendor. That suite is a fair reason to stay.

Price: No public software price. Sales quote.

Trial: Demo, product tour or 4-week proof of value. No advertised self-serve trial.

Why people stay on YOOBIC

  • Campaigns, visits and VM photo scoring in one app
  • 1:1 and group chat, newsfeed and communities
  • Mobile learning in the same product
  • Public REST API, webhooks and 200-plus integrations

Why people look

  • No public software price
  • I could not find an AI step inside a campaign the worker is running
  • I could not find video, audio, file upload or signatures as mission fields
  • Quote by stores or users and modules

What is Zipline, and when should you pick it?

Zipline puts the right HQ message and task on today's Day Sheet. You prove it was read and done with photos and readership. You give the floor a Resource Library and Zippy. You audit with assessments and assign tasks on the spot. Zippy answers from the brand library, and it can call customer MCP servers. You can plug in clock-in through workforce management integrations.

I would pick Zipline if I needed head office messages, a Day Sheet of today's tasks, and photo proof from one vendor. That list is a fair reason to stay.

Price: No public software price. Sales quote.

Trial: Demo and quote. No advertised self-serve trial.

Why people stay on Zipline

  • HQ messages, Day Sheet tasks and photo proof in one app
  • Messenger DMs, Groups and readership
  • Resource Library and Zippy
  • Zippy can call customer MCP servers

Why people look

  • No public software price
  • I could not find an AI step inside a Day Sheet task
  • I could not find a public API reference, or a Zipline MCP server for other tools to call
  • I could not find video, audio or signatures as capture fields on a public product page
  • Public help is login-gated

When is Pilla the third option?

If the job is store tasks plus messages, training and a score on the display photos, pick YOOBIC. If the job is head office messages, a Day Sheet of today's tasks, and photo proof, pick Zipline. I built Pilla for a different job. You draw the process on a canvas. The team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla checks the work as it comes in and follows up when something needs you. I did not build training courses, visual merchandising photo scoring, HQ broadcasts or shift scheduling. If you need those, keep them on YOOBIC, Zipline or another vendor. You can open Pilla the same day. Pay as you go is £199 a month with 1,500 processed workflows included, then 15p each. Enterprise is from £25k a year. Talk to us to get set up. People are unlimited.

Which should you pick?

I would pick YOOBIC if I needed the store tasks, the messages, the training, and a score on the display photos from one vendor. I would pick Zipline if I needed head office messages, a Day Sheet of today's tasks, and photo proof from one vendor. If I wanted the work drawn on a canvas and AI acting inside the run, with an MCP server other software can call, I would use Pilla, and I would keep the training courses, the newsfeed, the Day Sheet and clock-in somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions

Is YOOBIC the same as Zipline?

No. They overlap on store tasks, photo proof, chat and learning. YOOBIC is built around campaigns, visits, a score on the display photos and training courses. Zipline is built around head office messages, a Day Sheet, readership and Zippy. Both quote you.

Does YOOBIC have AI inside the task?

I could not find an AI step that fetches, decides or acts inside the campaign the worker is running. VM Copilot can score photos inside a VM workflow. Copilots create or recommend follow-up work for managers. Rules can trigger the next task.

Does Zippy use MCP?

Yes, as a client. Zipline documents Zippy calling tools inside Zipline, for example tasks, and calling customer MCP servers for live inventory or schedule data, with the user's identity on each request. But I could not find a Zipline MCP server for other tools to call.

Can staff chat in YOOBIC and Zipline?

Yes. YOOBIC has 1:1 and group chat, a company newsfeed, broadcasts with read receipts, and communities. Zipline Messenger is one-to-one or a few people. Groups are topic chats. HQ still broadcasts messages with readership on the Day Sheet.

How much do YOOBIC and Zipline cost?

YOOBIC quotes you by stores, or by locations or users depending on the modules. Zipline quotes you for modules and a leadership or every-associate rollout. I could not find a public software price for either. Pilla is Pay as you go at £199 a month with 1,500 processed workflows, then 15p each. Enterprise is from £25k a year. People are unlimited.

Where does Pilla fit if I am comparing YOOBIC and Zipline?

I would pick Pilla if I wanted the floor to follow a process, with the work checked as it comes in. I would not switch expecting Pilla to take over the training courses, visit scoring, head office broadcasts or a Day Sheet. The deep tables live on Pilla vs YOOBIC and Pilla vs Zipline.

Where did these facts come from?

YOOBIC and Zipline claims on this page come from their own public docs. Pilla claims come from the current product.
