Jolt vs Storecall (2026): lists plus labour tools and hardware, or scored audits with linked follow-up and ZAR pricing
I wrote this because I keep getting asked how Jolt and Storecall compare. I ran restaurants for years. I know the job: you want the floor to do the work without you chasing every check.
Digi bought Jolt in August 2025. You still log into the Jolt app. Their marketing now lives under SmartSense Operate. You build lists, collect photo and signature proof, and you can add labels, sensors, work orders, rotas and a time clock if you buy those modules.
Storecall is an inspection-grade operations platform rooted in South Africa. You build scored field audits with photo, geotag and signature evidence, then chain corrective workflows, approvals and pivot reporting across locations. Nova AI summarises submissions and flags anomalies after capture. You can add asset management and scheduling.
I built Pilla so you can turn a process you already know into a workflow on a canvas. Your team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla can fetch, decide and act while the work is happening. You keep the judgement calls.
If you want to try it on a process you already run, open the canvas.
Quick Summary
I would pick Jolt when I want lists bundled with labour tools and hardware. I would pick Storecall when I want scored audits with linked corrective follow-up, assets and ZAR per-user pricing. I would pick Pilla when I want AI to act inside the work.
- I would pick Jolt if I needed opening lists plus labels, sensors and a time clock from one vendor
- I would pick Storecall if I needed scored field audits with linked corrective workflows, assets and ZAR per-user pricing with unlimited submissions
- I would pick Pilla if I wanted a process I already know drawn on a canvas, with branching, not another list template or scored audit form
- I would pick Pilla if I wanted AI to fetch, decide and act inside the run, not rule flags, QR proof or Nova summaries after capture
How did we compare them?
I ask the same twelve questions on every comparison. For Jolt I went back to Operate help and SmartSense how-to-buy. For Storecall I went back to their homepage, pricing, free templates, build-my-checklist and compare pages. I read those public docs on 23 September 2026. Where they stay quiet, I stay quiet.
I am Liam Jones. I founded Pilla after more than ten years running hospitality operations, food safety and frontline teams. On 23 September 2026 I sat with Jolt's list item types, Operate help, the Digi acquisition page and SmartSense how-to-buy, then with Storecall's homepage, pricing, free templates, build-my-checklist and their SafetyCulture and GoAudits compare pages. I have not lived in a paid Jolt or Storecall account for this write-up. I am telling you what their docs say.

What is Jolt, and when should you pick it?
Jolt holds opening, closing, HACCP and brand lists in one place. You prove the work with photos, signatures and timestamps. You flag a missed temp or a skipped item. You print date-code labels, watch kit with sensors, and staff the floor with a rota and a photo time clock if you buy those modules. Digi bought Jolt in August 2025. In September 2026 you still log into the Jolt app at app.joltup.com.
I would pick Jolt if I needed lists plus labels, sensors and a time clock from one vendor. That suite is a fair reason to stay.
Price: No public software price. Sales quote.
Trial: Demo and quote. No advertised self-serve trial.
Why people stay on Jolt
- Lists, logbook and work orders in one Operate product
- Date-code labels, probes and sensors if you buy those modules
- Rota and photo time clock in the same vendor
- Existing contracts stay as they are, they say
Why people look
- No public software price
- I could not find an AI step inside a list
- I could not find DMs or group chats
- API access goes through an account manager
- Hardware costs extra
What is Storecall, and when should you pick it?
Storecall holds scored field audits and linked corrective work in one place. You prove the check with photos, geotags, signatures and timestamps. You score the visit, fail an item, and spawn a linked corrective workflow with approvals and escalation. You keep an asset register and cut results by location with pivot reporting. Nova AI summarises submissions after capture. The company is rooted in South Africa and invoices in ZAR.
I would pick Storecall if I needed scored field audits with linked corrective workflows, approvals, assets and ZAR per-user pricing with unlimited submissions. That stack is a fair reason to stay.
Price: Starter R2,500/month for up to 10 users (~$154 USD indicative). Growth R249 per user per month (~$15). Enterprise R199 per user per month (~$12).

Why people stay on Storecall
- Scored audits, linked corrective workflows and approvals in one place
- Asset register linked to inspections
- Published ZAR per-user prices with unlimited submissions and all features
- Nova AI summaries and anomaly detection after capture
Why people look
- You pay per user
- I could not find an AI step inside a running checklist
- I could not find DMs or group chats
- I could not find a public Storecall API or MCP server
- I could not find dedicated video guidance beside each question
When is Pilla the third option?
If the job is lists plus labels, a rota and a time clock, pick Jolt. If the job is scored audits with linked corrective workflows, assets and a published ZAR seat price, pick Storecall. I built Pilla for a different job. You draw the process on a canvas. The team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla checks the work as it comes in and follows up when something needs you. I did not build shift scheduling, payroll, HR, date-code printers, sensors, scored inspection suites or an asset register. If you need those, keep them on Jolt, Storecall or another vendor. You can open Pilla the same day. Pay as you go is £199 a month with 1,500 processed workflows included, then 15p each. Enterprise is from £999 a month. Talk to us to get set up. People are unlimited.

Which should you pick?
I would pick Jolt if I needed lists plus labels, sensors and a time clock from one vendor. I would pick Storecall if I needed scored field audits with linked corrective workflows, assets and ZAR per-user pricing with unlimited submissions. If I wanted the work drawn on a canvas and AI acting inside the run, with DMs and MCP, I would use Pilla, and I would keep rotas, printers, sensors and the audit product somewhere else.
Frequently asked questions
Is Jolt the same as Storecall?
No. They overlap on lists, proof and follow-up. Jolt is built around opening lists plus labels, rotas and a time clock, and they quote you. Storecall is built around scored audits with linked corrective workflows, assets and ZAR per-user pricing with unlimited submissions.
Is Jolt still Jolt after SmartSense?
Yes. Digi bought Jolt in August 2025. In September 2026 you still log into the Jolt app at app.joltup.com. Marketing and help sit under SmartSense ONE, where Operate is lists. They say existing contracts stay as they are.
How much do Jolt and Storecall cost?
Jolt quotes you. I could not find a public software price. Storecall publishes Starter at R2,500 a month for up to 10 users, Growth at R249 per user, and Enterprise at R199 per user, with unlimited submissions. Pilla is Pay as you go at £199 a month with 1,500 processed workflows, then 15p each. Enterprise is from £999 a month. People are unlimited.
Does Jolt or Storecall put AI inside the run?
I could not find an AI step inside a Jolt list or a Storecall checklist. Jolt checking is a photo, a QR, a range, a flag, auto-complete and a notification. Storecall checking is auto-scoring, failed-item workflows and approvals. Nova summarises after capture.
Where does Pilla fit if I am comparing Jolt and Storecall?
I would pick Pilla if I wanted the floor to follow a process, with the work checked as it comes in. I would not switch expecting Pilla to take over labels, rotas, a time clock, linked corrective child submissions or an asset register. The deep tables live on Pilla vs Jolt and Pilla vs Storecall.
Where did these facts come from?
Jolt and Storecall claims on this page come from their own public docs. Pilla claims come from the current product.
