I wrote this because I keep getting asked how GoCanvas and FastField compare. I ran restaurants for years. I know the job: you want the floor to do the work without you chasing every check.

GoCanvas is a field operations and inspections platform. You turn paper work orders, inspections, checklists and daily reports into mobile forms. The crew fills them on a phone, tablet, Windows desktop or the web client, including offline on mobile. Dispatch sends the next job, you get a branded PDF back, and Max adds Follow-Up Tasks on failed checks.

FastField is Quickbase's mobile forms product. You still search for FastField. Their homepage now lives under Quickbase. You build a form, collect photo, video, audio and signature proof, and you send reports, tasks and data back to the office.

I built Pilla so you can turn a process you already know into a workflow on a canvas. Your team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla can fetch, decide and act while the work is happening. You keep the judgement calls.

If you want to try it on a process you already run, open the canvas.

I would keep GoCanvas when I want mobile forms bundled with dispatch and branded PDFs. I would keep FastField when I want mobile forms, a dispatch inbox and custom PDFs, especially with Quickbase. I would pick Pilla when I want AI to act inside the work.

How did we compare them?

I ask the same twelve questions on every comparison. For GoCanvas I went back to their help and packages page. For FastField I went back to their help and Quickbase FastField pages. I read those public docs on 16 September 2026. Where they stay quiet, I stay quiet.

I am Liam Jones. I founded Pilla after more than ten years running hospitality operations, food safety and frontline teams. On 16 September 2026 I sat with GoCanvas's Basic Form Builder, Advanced Form Builder, field types, Follow-Up Tasks, Workflow, Dispatch, the API and the packages page, then with FastField's field types, field rules and skip logic, the AI Form Builder, AI Photo Insights, tasks, Global Workflow, the web app versus the Portal, and the Quickbase pricing page. I have not lived in a paid GoCanvas or FastField account for this write-up. I am telling you what their docs say.

GoCanvas sells digital forms inside a field operations platform. FastField sells mobile forms for field data collection, now as a Quickbase product. They overlap on lists, proof, dispatch and PDFs. They split on Windows fill and a branded PDF designer versus skip logic, audio, Photo Insights and Quickbase. I built Pilla for a different job: AI acting inside the run.

What is GoCanvas, and when should you keep it?

GoCanvas holds field forms in one place. You prove the job with photos, signatures, GPS and timestamps, and you send a branded PDF. Dispatch and scheduled repeats send the form to the crew. Workflow hands a submission to a supervisor. Failed checks can become Follow-Up Tasks on Max. You can push the data into QuickBooks, Salesforce, Procore or a spreadsheet. AI auto-builds a form from a PDF.

I would keep GoCanvas if I needed mobile forms plus dispatch and branded PDFs from one vendor. That forms and dispatch product is a fair reason to stay.

Price: Essentials $29, Pro $39, Max $49 per user per month. 3-user minimum, billed annually.

Trial: Documented trial. Length in days is not stated on the live trial article.

What is FastField, and when should you keep it?

FastField holds inspections, work orders and checklists as mobile forms. You prove the job with photos, video, audio, signatures and GPS. You dispatch the next form, map a branded PDF, and push the data into Quickbase or another system. FastField is Quickbase's mobile forms product. In September 2026 you still search for FastField.

I would keep FastField if I needed mobile forms plus a dispatch inbox, audio proof and Quickbase from one vendor. That forms and dispatch product is a fair reason to stay.

When is Pilla the third option?

If the job is field forms plus dispatch and branded PDFs, keep GoCanvas. If the job is mobile forms plus a dispatch inbox, audio and Quickbase, keep FastField. I built Pilla for a different job. You draw the process on a canvas. The team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla checks the work as it comes in and follows up when something needs you. I did not build shift scheduling, payroll, HR, a branded PDF designer or a dispatch inbox. If you need those, keep them on GoCanvas, FastField or another vendor. You can open Pilla the same day. Starter is £49 a month with 500 processed workflows. Pro is £99 with 1,000, and adds AI automations inside Pilla. Every new account gets a 14-day trial of every Pro feature, with no card. People are unlimited.

Pilla helps me have a day off knowing that procedures will be followed

Which should you pick?

I would keep GoCanvas if I needed mobile forms plus dispatch and branded PDFs from one vendor. I would keep FastField if I needed mobile forms plus a dispatch inbox, audio proof and Quickbase from one vendor. If I wanted the work drawn on a canvas and AI acting inside the run, with DMs and MCP, I would use Pilla, and I would keep dispatch, PDFs and Quickbase form sync somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoCanvas the same as FastField?

No. They overlap on mobile forms, proof, dispatch and PDFs. GoCanvas is a field operations platform with a Windows fill client, a branded PDF designer, Follow-Up Tasks on Max, and a public per-user annual price with a three-user minimum. FastField is Quickbase's mobile forms product with skip logic, audio, Photo Insights and a public per-seat price.

Is FastField still FastField after Quickbase?

Yes. FastField is Quickbase's mobile forms product. In September 2026 you still search for FastField. The homepage at fastfieldforms.com sends you to quickbase.com/fastfield. You still log into the FastField portal and apps.

How much do GoCanvas and FastField cost?

GoCanvas publishes Essentials at $29 per user per month, Pro at $39 and Max at $49, with a three-user minimum billed annually. FastField publishes Core at $24 per seat per month and Pro at $36 on the Annual toggle. Enterprise is a quote. Pilla is Starter at £49 a month with 500 processed workflows, and Pro at £99 with 1,000. People are unlimited.

Does GoCanvas or FastField have AI inside the form?

On GoCanvas I could not find an AI step inside a submission. Checking is required fields, conditions, calculations, scoring and human handoffs. AI Forms and Auto-Build read a PDF and draft the mobile form. On FastField, Pro can analyse a multi-photo field with AI Photo Insights and fill fields from a photographed label with Label Scanner. AI Form Builder writes a form at design time. AI Workflow on Pro is marketed to analyse, summarise and route submissions after they land. I could not load the AI Workflow setup article. I could not find an AI step that fetches, decides and acts inside the form.

What evidence can each form capture?

A GoCanvas form can take photos, signatures, ratings, numbers, checkboxes, dates, time and GPS. Video is a Pro and Max field with a 15-second cap. Files are an Attachment field, plan-gated. I could not find an audio field. The Attachment help article blocks audio files. A FastField form can take photos, including annotation and GPS, plus video, audio, uploaded PDF, Word or Excel files, signatures, ratings from 1 to 10, numbers, checklist answers, dates and GPS location.

Where does Pilla fit if I am comparing GoCanvas and FastField?

I would pick Pilla if I wanted the floor to follow a process, with the work checked as it comes in. I would not switch expecting Pilla to take over dispatch, branded PDFs or Quickbase form sync. The deep tables live on Pilla vs GoCanvas and Pilla vs FastField.
