I am Liam Jones. I founded Pilla after more than ten years running hospitality operations, food safety and frontline teams.

I wrote this because I keep getting asked whether Pilla replaces Dozuki. I ran restaurants for years. I know the job: you want the floor to do the work without you chasing every check.

Dozuki calls itself a connected worker platform for industrial frontline teams. You turn tribal knowledge into version-controlled work instructions with photos, video and markup. Operators follow those steps on a phone, tablet or workstation, fill digital forms and sign off. Learning Pathways turns the same standards into courses and a skills matrix. CreatorPro drafts guides from expert video or old documents. Sales quote you, and they say a full launch takes about 120 days.

I built Pilla so you can turn a process you already know into a workflow on a canvas. Your team runs it on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla can fetch, decide and act while the work is happening. You keep the judgement calls.

If you want to try it on a process you already run, open the canvas.

Quick Summary

I would pick Pilla when I want AI to act inside the work. I would pick Dozuki when I want industrial SOP control, training and shop-floor work orders.

  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted a process I already know drawn on a canvas, with branching, not linear SOP guides with document control
  • I would pick Pilla if I wanted AI to fetch, decide and act inside the run, not stage-gates, range checks and CreatorPro drafting a guide
  • I would keep Dozuki if I needed version-controlled work instructions, plant training and shop-floor work orders from one vendor
  • I would not switch expecting Pilla to take over SOP document control, plant training or MES integration

How did we compare them?

I ask the same twelve questions on every comparison. For Pilla I describe what the product does today. For Dozuki I used their public product pages and the hosted help that still publishes on customer Dozuki sites. Featured articles on help.dozuki.com were empty. I have not used a paid account. Where they stay quiet, I stay quiet.

Why do people like Pilla?

You open Pilla on the phone you already carry. You see the next step, read how to do it, take the photo or sign, and move on. The record lands while you work. Pilla checks it against the rules you set and follows up when something needs you.

I hear the same thing from managers: they draw the process once and stop asking all day whether it happened. The team likes it because they can see what good looks like before they start.

“Pilla helps me have a day off knowing that procedures will be followed”

Charles, owner of 11 hospitality sites

When does switching from Dozuki to Pilla make sense?

  • You want Pilla to check the work as it comes in
  • You want to draw the process on a canvas and branch it
  • You want audio, a rating or location sitting on the step itself
  • You want DMs and group chats next to the work
  • You want an MCP server you can call
  • You are happy to keep SOP document control, plant training and MES somewhere else

Dozuki's pricing page is a Get Pricing form. There is no public plan grid. Product help describes a User Plan of allocated licenses, split into privileged users and standard users. They say a full launch takes about 120 days. CreatorPro, Data Connector and Software Validation are named products or services. Whether they are add-ons is not priced on the public card. I have left third-party dollar figures off this page.

How long does setup take, and how hard is it?

You can open Pilla the same day. Talk to us to get set up. I usually see a first opening or closing workflow take an afternoon. Dozuki starts with a demo and a quote. They say a full launch takes about 120 days with implementation services.

If you move, you rebuild the guides on the canvas. Photos and history stay in Dozuki unless you export them by hand. Run both for a while. Keep SOP document control, plant training and MES on Dozuki or another vendor. I did not build Pilla to be a manufacturing document-control, LMS or MES layer, or to do shift scheduling, payroll or HR.

Does the answer change by budget or size?

If you only need the floor to run a process and you want to try something today, start with Pilla. If you run a plant and you need version-controlled work instructions, training from those standards and digital work orders from one vendor, stay with Dozuki. If money is tight, I publish prices. Dozuki quotes you. If you want AI in the run and an MCP server, I would pick Pilla even in a small team.

What is each one used for?

Dozuki works well for

  • Author and control digital work instructions with photos, video and markup
  • Turn expert video or old documents into a guide with CreatorPro
  • QR access to the current SOP at a machine, including offline
  • Quality checks, measurements, photos and supervisor sign-off
  • Preventative maintenance checklists and CMMS-linked work orders
  • Lockout/tagout, sanitation, changeover and assembly procedures
  • Role-based courses, quizzes, a skills matrix and retraining on updates
  • Operator comments that become approved standard-work edits

Pilla works well for

  • Opening and closing the team can follow on their phone
  • Showing someone how to do a step with writing, a photo or a video
  • Collecting photos, video, audio, files and signatures as the work happens
  • Letting AI fetch, decide and act while the run is live
  • Following up yourself, or letting Pilla follow up
  • Talking in DMs and group chats next to the work
  • Connecting other software through MCP, API and integrations
  • Paying for workflows with as many people as you need

What is Dozuki designed to do?

Dozuki holds version-controlled work instructions, digital forms and plant training in one place. You prove the work with photos, video, measurements and sign-off, including regulated e-records where you need them. Operators open the current procedure by QR or in the app, including offline. CreatorPro turns expert video into a guide. I would stay on Dozuki for that SOP, training and shop-floor stack.

What is Pilla designed to do?

I built Pilla so you can turn the processes you already know into workflows on a canvas. Your team follows them on a phone, tablet or the web app. Pilla checks completed work and handles the follow-up you configured. You keep judgement, coaching and the awkward calls. I left shift scheduling, payroll and HR out on purpose.

What differences actually matter?

How do they check the work?

On Pilla I put AI fetching, decisions and actions in the run. On Dozuki a required field, a numeric range, a stage-gate or a supervisor sign-off does the checking. CreatorPro drafts guides. ChangeAware summarises edits. AI Search answers from approved SOPs. I could not find customer-placed fetch, decision or action steps on a canvas.

How do you design the work?

On Pilla you draw a visual canvas with branching and reuse the workflow. On Dozuki you write a linear step guide, reuse a whole guide as a prerequisite, and run work orders with stage-gates. Recurrence is scheduled tasks and retraining. One blog mentions conditional paths. I could not find a node canvas.

How do you capture evidence?

On Pilla a step can take audio and a rating, plus photos, video, files, signatures, numbers, checklists, dates and location. Dozuki Data Capture lists text, numbers, checkboxes, radios, dropdowns, photos and video. Marketing and the apps add e-signatures and scans. I could not find an audio note, a rating field, GPS on the step, or a generic file field in the list I opened.

How does the team talk?

On Pilla you get DMs and group chats, including on a workflow. Dozuki comments sit on the procedure. People tag each other and use an answers hub. I could not find DMs or group chat rooms.

How do they connect other software?

Pilla publishes an MCP server, a REST API and integrations. Dozuki documents APIs, webhooks, native connectors, SCIM and SSO, plus MES, LMS, QMS, ERP, EAM, CMMS and HRIS. Data Connector feeds Power BI, Tableau and AWS Redshift. I could not find a Dozuki MCP server.

What are you paying for?

On Pilla you pay for processed workflows, with unlimited people, and Talk to us to get set up. Dozuki quotes you for user licenses. Product help splits privileged authors and standard operators. I could not find a public software price.

Which should you pick?

If I ran a plant that needed version-controlled work instructions, training from those standards and digital forms on the production line, I would keep Dozuki. That industrial SOP and training stack is a fair reason to stay. If I wanted the work drawn on a canvas and AI acting inside the run, with DMs and MCP, I would use Pilla, and I would keep document control and plant training somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions

What is Dozuki?

A connected worker platform for industrial plants, founded in 2011. Modules cover digital work instructions, operational workflows and work orders, learning pathways, worker comments and answers, and Industrial AI such as CreatorPro, ChangeAware and search. They say they work with 500+ companies.

Does Dozuki have AI inside the work the way Pilla does?

CreatorPro turns video and documents into guides. ChangeAware summarises procedure edits. AI Search answers from approved SOPs. Quizzes can be generated from procedures. They market Knowledge, Operations and Skills agents around content, adherence and training gaps. In-procedure checks are required fields, numeric ranges, stage-gates and supervisor sign-off. I could not find customer-built fetch, decision or action steps on a canvas.

Can staff chat in Dozuki the way they would in Pilla?

They can comment on steps, tag people and use an answers hub on procedures. Managers get notified of feedback. I could not find 1:1 DMs or group chat rooms.

What evidence can Dozuki capture?

Data Capture help lists text, numbers, multiline text, checkboxes, radios, dropdowns, photos and video, plus a work-order number at the start. Marketing and the apps also list e-signatures, scans, measurements and supervisor sign-off. Records are time-stamped. The iOS app added a date field to work orders. I could not find an audio note, a rating scale, GPS on the step, or a generic file field in the field list I opened.

Does Dozuki have a visual workflow canvas?

I could not find one in public product docs. Work is a linear step guide. Prerequisite guides reuse whole procedures at the start of another guide. Stage-gates and required fields enforce order. One blog mentions conditional paths.

How much does Dozuki cost compared to Pilla?

Dozuki quotes you. I could not find a public software price. Product help describes a User Plan of licenses, split into privileged authors and standard operators. Demo and quote, not a self-serve trial. They say a full launch takes about 120 days. I do not charge per person. Pay as you go is £199 a month with 1,500 processed workflows included, then 15p each. Enterprise is from £25k a year. Talk to us to get set up.

Does switching to Pilla replace Dozuki SOP control, plant training or MES integration?

No. I did not build Pilla as a manufacturing document-control, LMS or MES layer. I also left shift scheduling, payroll and HR out on purpose. If you need that plant stack, keep it on Dozuki or another product.

How long does it take to switch from Dozuki to Pilla?

You rebuild the guides on the canvas. A first workflow usually takes an afternoon. Running both side by side can take days or a couple of weeks, depending on how many procedures you have. Photos and history stay in Dozuki unless you move them by hand.

How did you compare Pilla and Dozuki?

I used Dozuki's public product pages and hosted help and answered the same twelve questions I use on every comparison. I described Pilla as it works today. I left out anything Dozuki does not publish. Featured articles on help.dozuki.com were empty.

Where did these facts come from?

Dozuki claims on this page come from their own public docs. Pilla claims come from the current product.
